i want to do something nice for my bf, since he is laid off and while he's doing pretty good, i just wanted to give him a treat.
i'm away this weekend (assuming i get doctor's clearance) sat/sun doing another all-night training. i was thinking of making a special meal for him friday and doing all his treat stuff. i know, not that big a deal, but i'm also trying to be budget conscious.
anyways, usually if i get him a surprise present it's some triathlon-related thing. i was thinking of going more romantic....flowers for guys? what would guys want in lieu of flowers? i should probably know, but i don't

Video gift certificate?
Coupons you make for taking his dishes turn, doing his laundry, etc. (or other favors).
Is there a treat/candy he likes?

for me or for him
he likes working on his car and his bike, but i'm really dumb about tools. maybe a new thing that you stick them in though, i don't think he has a separate one for his bike tools.
connie, good idea about the certificates treats are probably out, as he's not a racing weight right now, so he wants to be careful about what he eats (and then there's me, heh). maybe some healthy treats though! hmmmm....
thanks guys

HA!
actually, we don't live together. we spend about 1/2 time at each other's places, and are integrated in a lot of ways, but not that, yet - we actually have to work out the animals, he loves them all, but doesn't understand why anyone would want to live with more than one at a time
eta: 'working out' doesn't mean getting rid of any of them, it means most likely finding a place that could accomodate a permanent 'animal-free zone' while still having space for everyone.

Yanno, the pizza sent to him is pretty nice. Especially in a flavor he loves and you don't. Or wait: How about a pizza gift certificate AND a movie gift certificate? Keep him off the streets AND happy!

hmmmm....i could send or make him some sort of meat extravaganza! (speaking of things he loves and i don't )
a lot of times we eat vegetarian b/c it's simpler (lowest common denominator kinda thing), not that he doesn't get to eat meat often, but. i was thinking of making a nice banana curry, but maybe i'll make some sides and then get him a steak or lobster or something.
