I was going through some old video footage today and found a video I filmed in the early 1990's. I took it while going through the polie academy - during the certification to use Pepper Spray (OC spray).
The instructor asked for volunteers. One of the smarter deicisions I made was to film the enent rather than participate. This 5 MN video will convince you that I made the right decision.

Good choice. Since you missed that are you going volunteer to test the Tazer? Wonder which is worse.

I've had to certify with OC three times in my career.
The Army in it's infinite wisdom continually loses my certs, and will not accept my copies ("but... they could be FORGED!")
Strangly, I've never had to be shot ONCE, to be allowed to carry my M9.
I'd rather be tazed twice, than OC'd once.

OC's nasty stuff. It's pretty common for everyone that is certified to carry it, to be sprayed. The same is true for the Tazer. Spray me all day long, riding the lightening is painful. Ed, you need to complete your education, ha ha. ride the lightening.

And then after you fix in your mind his face after the pepper spray, start the video over and see the close-up of the same guy (white tee shirt) before the pepper spray.
Looks like a younger relative before the pepper spray.
I felt bad laughing at the twirling eyeballs .... but I did!

I was put in an OC house where they let off an OC canister while we wore a gas mask. We had to take off the gas mask and then they sprayed us in the face on top of it. We weren't allowed to leave until we took a few big breaths.
The worst part was that it was about 95 degrees out side with zero wind. Wind is an OC victims' friend. First time I actually hurled. Over the years I've been hit with it dozens of times whilst fighting bad guys and having backup with poor aim. After awhile it's no big deal. The snots is the worst though.

I used to be a correctional officer. We had to get sprayed with CS and CN gases via a device called the Projectojet. Talk about "fun" - NOT! Then, when the department officially recognized OC (pepper spray), I had to get sprayed in the face - AGAIN! I kept thinking to myself during training, "This is what they're paying me for today?"
Thankfully, you do it once, then you don't have to do it again. I was never (thankfully) exposed while on the job but it does happen.

They told me that each of the three times I certified with OC.
Training up to go to Iraq, I got stuck in a medical appointment the day my unit with through CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) training.
So... I got to make up the training two weeks later. Monday morning, bright and early, I get to go to the gas chamber.
As a general rule, CS doesn't bother me much. You can only get gassed with CS so many times before it almost becomes fun.
Tuesday morning, I get to attend OC training with my unit.
By Thursday morning, I had a wicked sinus infection, and was truly loving Fort Dix's tropical, humid climate.
Friday night, we were blessed with hurricane conditions, which miraculously coincided with our night fire range.
Being the hooah soldier that I am, I courageously (or perhaps, stupidly) volunteer to be a range safety, thereby ensuring myself ample opportunity to stand in gale force winds and sideways rain.
By Saturday night, I had given up on oral fluids and opted for the intravenous route.
Gee, Fort Dix sure was fun. By comparison, Iraq was a pleasure cruise.
