Throughout the year, I'm in some of the most beautiful places and have developed a love for hobby photography.
My mom has a Cannon Rebel that is absolutely amazing, but I would like a camera that wasn't quite so big.
My perfect camera would be one that took the quality photos that the Rebel does, is waterproof, small, and lightweight. I know thats probably going to be impossible to find, but hey you always set your goals high right .
I'm in mountainous country a lot, wading through rivers, and jumping across rocks in streams. I love to take pictures of flowers, streams, and those gorgeous native brook trout that are so elusive.
Also during the warmer months, I'm on the back of a motorcycle taking pictures.
I love to take pics of the family, little kids, and the dogs.
One with lots of cool little settings would be a bonus too!
Right now I have a 10.1 megapixel CASIO, it does pretty good but I'd like something new! It takes good pics, but I'd like to have one that has professional capability, or is waterproof. It has the different macro options, black and white, and whole lot of other stuff (settings wise) so I'd like to get another with the same amount, or close to, since I'm used to having them.
Any suggestions on some cameras?
There's got to be some expert photogs on here, there's expert everything else !

I have a tendency to lose cameras, so cheap and big is what I need! Can't help you, but I'm sure someone can!!!

I have the cannon powershot A560 and it takes great pics for the price and it has a manual option on top of all the neat pre-set features.

I am the hugest fan of the Nikon Coolpix series. They're cheap, light, and monkey proof. They also have amazing color, really sharp detail, and I have been nothing but pleased with mine for a little over 4 years. My next camera will be the same.

I finally broke down and bought a "good" camera. I got a Cannon digital SLR. While it's bigger than the point and shooters I've found that I've gotten used to it, even with 3 kids hanging off of me. The option to use any lens, and the amount of settings, plus the ability to just set it on auto and use it as a point and shoot all are a big plus. They have upgraded the model I have since I bought mine so it has even more features. Cannon has a good website that helped me make the most of the camera and improved my general photo skills. Also, if you want to use photoshop to work on the photos it's great to mess around with. Best of Luck!

Toby is a big photography buff, has the fancy fancy camera, different lenses, etc. I was mentioning this thread to him, and he thought if you have the Rebel now and are looking for something smaller to look at the Canon G series? G7 I believe.
Teagan!

I have a canon sd 1000, and LOVE it! I enjoy taking nature, dog, family, etc pics; but by no means am I a photographer. I backpack a lot, so I wanted something light and compact that won't take up too much room/weight in my pack. It has a large screen and also a viewfinder for when it's super sunny out, and I can't see the screen. It's pretty easy to use, and has a bunch of nice features. I LOVE canon because of the photo quality and the way it captures colors. I keep it in an otter box to prevent both crushing and water damage.
My techie friend recommends this site as it is a comprehensive review site.

I have a Canon Powershot and a Nikon Coolpix. They are both good as long as the lighting is good. The Coolpix pictures are grainy in low light if the subject is beyond flash range. I haven't tried the Powershot in low light conditions like that yet.
I also have a Canon digital SLR. Big camera that takes beautiful pictures.

my little cannon powershot takes really good low light pics and the flash on the nightime setting is ridiculous!

I have the Canon Powershot SD850 IS. this is my "walk the dog and ride the horse" camera. It takes decent video too, and is really small and easy to carry.
I just upgraded to the Canon Powershot 950, more megapixels and better controls. It should arrive next week!
I have a Nikon SLR with a POWER lens that I use for agility and other dog photography and stuff like that but the lens alone weighs 3 pounds, so it's not exactly something I can carry in my pocket while snowshoeing. It gives you a cramp in your arm after a while.
I love photography but I am totally into convenience so if something's not convenient I just don't use it no matter how great it is.
