I posted a while back asking about Mini Aussies, as I wanted a small, active, dog to bring into the house. Some of the board members recommended alternative breeds for various reasons.
Wow, corgis don't end up in shelters here in TX that often. My sister has shown them for a few years and they are appealing. I'm in Houston, TX and willing to give him a basic temperament test if you wanted me to.
Wendy he's in Jasper, not sure how close that is to Houston. The lady I've been speaking with said they were near the LA-TX border and about 80 miles from the closest air port.
Everything would be great, and he would be en route to me right now, but...
The lady said that they didn't have the man power to drive him to an air port and that they weren't involved in a transport chain .
I guess now I have to convince the b/f to drive to Texas !
I and a friend drove to a shelter in WV (from Ontario, Canada) to get my dog; it was a long drive but WELL worth it.
Have you looked into Operation Roger? (A network of truckers that are willing to help move shelter pets on their long hauls). I get dogs to foster from quite long distances through them, they are great.
Otherwise... a road trip is fun! you can make a weekend of it. This little guy is sooo worth it.
Thanks for the compliments, he is gorgeous! His parents are AKC registered, but of course he wouldn't come with them. I have no clue why he is in the shelter, as he looks perfect!
I've never heard of Operation Roger, thanks for the suggestion I'm definitely going to look into that. It looks like a great program!
A roadtrip would be great BUT Scott (the b/f ) is working 6 days a week, 10 hr shifts. And there is no way he'd let me make a drive to TX by myself.
Angela where did you get your dog at in WV?
I'm really hoping I can make something work out because I think this little guy would be so perfect!
His Mom is coming over for dinner tonight so maybe if I act real good this evening, get the house spotless before he comes home from work, and get some tips from Jennifer Mullen's thread on flower equivalence for guys I might be able to persuade him! LOL!
I mean after all we are almost done Christmas shopping, we maybe only have like $100 left to spend, gas prices have went SO far down, and he has some family in New Orleans.
