Salutations! I wanted to introduce myself to this board as I am a newbie to this board.
I've been involved with working dogs for 7 years now and my current and first working dog is a Presa Canario named Mole (sounds like Pele). She is cross-trained in PSA, French Ring, some mondioring, and personal protection. She is an indoor dog and is great with my two young daughters who are 3 and 1 respectively. The arrival of our two daughters stalled our desire to obtain a FR Brevet and perhaps a PSA 1, but we're trying to get back in the swing of things. Currently, Mole has a PSA PDC and PSA TC.
Btw, I admire all of the protection breeds, but I have an affinity towards the knuckleheads...lol...the bull and mastiffs breeds.
If you would like to find out more about her, please visit my website at:
Welcome Juan, nice to see that your interest in the Presa Breed is to preserve and cultivate the best aspect of the breed, I believe "temperament" is the key to a successful road to better any breed and not always look for size only. When I had my Bordeaux Mastiffs (1992) people would always ask how big do they get ,what do they weigh, how much do they eat...but never once would ask what type of temperament it has or should have....Mole seems to have it all..
I completely agree. To me, size is irrelevant if a said dog is unhealthy, is a pile of bad nerves, and has shameful temperament. I prefer a dog that is not too big for it's own good, is athletic, and has great temperament...to go with good health...regardless of breed. Btw, that picture of the young girl and the two shepherds in the snow is a great one.
