I am looking to by a German Shepherd. Anybody hear anything about Holistica German Shepherds? He wants $7500 for a three year old male. Is this a typical price?

Seems like an awful lot of money for a dog.
What's his training? A dog needs alot behind him to be worth that much.
I could find no info on their web site about anything but pedigree and something about agility, and flyball. Oh oh and probably a good canine cert.

What am I missing?

Tina, there is no way in h*** I would even consider paying 7500 dollars for that dog.

I really wasn't considering it. I was shocked and wondered if that was the norm. I was even thinking that maybe that price was a typo and it should have been $750???? I was afraid to askBut I am just learning.
I lost my shepherd early this spring. She was the absolute best dog ever. Very protective. I adopted another shepherd in July. She was abused I think. She is pretty level headed.......but no protective bones in her body. I found this website and got interested in maybe trying Schutzhund training.
Either way I would like a dog not to be so shy. I'm trying to research and find a dog with some potential.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Even I, would not pay $7500 for that dog.

Microchipped as a selling point? That costs what, $60? I can't imagine it's all that expensive to AKC register a dog. And while it's great the dog has it's CGC, that's basically a manners test. It's not a level of training that justifies $7500.

To put that kind of price into perspective for you (now I must qualify this, I am NOT in law enforcement), but I believe $7500 approaches what pd's pay for what is close to finished dogs. Yeah that level of training.

Yeah yeah, Tina stick around a lot to learn here.

And there's no rush for another dog. Work with the one you have, you may be surprised where she can go.

If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.

Tina, do you have a Schutzhund club near you? If you do, perhaps you could go to a meeting or two to get your feet wet, and meet some folks who might be able to help you get started in your search.

And of course, if you have questions this is the place to be; there are many knowledgeable people here who are willing to share their expertise and opinions...
