my ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing)! I am so excited! The school I wanted to get into didn't have an opening for me until either June or July, so that's what I was planning. I have 3 small kids, and was a stay-at-home mom until just now, for the last 7-1/2 years. Anyway, last Friday the school called and said they had a cancellation, and could I start Monday! Holy *&#Y^! I was totally caught off-guard. Luckily, my childcare was already set up and she could do it early, and my oldest 2 kids are at school all day, so it worked out!
So at the ripe old age of 35, I took out my first student loans ever this week! (I already have a B.A., but didn't have loans). I never thought I'd be so happy to borrow money in my life! LOL!!! Thanks for listening, I just had to tell you all!
I am 28 and in my second year of my nursing degree. I don't have kids though....so I have it a bit easier than you!
I think that nursing is a field where us "older" students do better than the 18-year-olds fresh out of high school because we have more life experience and experience dealing with people.
It's a great career choice though, and the time in school flies by!
Good luck ... you'll do just fine !!! I undertook my MBA 10 years after getting by BS. You just have to slightly re-arrange your day to get through your assignments.
