I'm not a new member, but some of you might remember I had to PTS my SA Boerboel recently. I thought I'd introduce you to my surrogate dog. My husband is training him to be an upland bird hunter, and is letting me borrow him to get thru my grieving period.
His name is Briar, and he is a 5 1/2 month old Black Lab.
I am doing lots of research for my next dog, and have pretty much settled on an AB. I am now working with White Mountain American Bulldogs to possibly get a pup this summer if they have one that suits my needs.
Tracy, I am glad you have something to help with the hurt. When I lost Cajun it helped immensely to have Duke and when I lost Duke I poured my soul into Cuda. None of them replaces any of the others but wet nosed four legged furry psychologists are the best.
I am also glad to hear you settled on a kennel. I like White Mountain's dogs and have heard good things about what they produce. I don't think you will be disappointed with either your choice of kennel or breed.
Thanks so much Jenn for all your help with the PM's and all. I do think I've made the right decision with the breed and breeder. I'm really being sure to do my homework.
Also, I am soooo sorry the Pic of Briar came out so huge! It's too late to edit now, so apologies for those that have to scroll to the right to read posts! My Bad!
He looks like a sweetie, I love big goofy sweet labs.
I'm glad you have a surrogate dog to help you grieve and recover from the loss of your Boerboel. It really helps to have a dog to love and cuddle and be with when grieving the loss of another dog.
It isn't huge to me at all, barely bigger then a signature picture.
Upland bird hunting can't be matched by anything else.
I've had better gun dogs, but never a better retriever than a lab bar none (all around they are the best). He looks like a beauty.
Good luck, I hope he'll find many a winged bird for ya.
Tracy, Briar looks like a real sweetheart - so glad you have him as a buffer for the loss of Truman. And congrats on the decision of a new AB puppy & breeder!! I just checked out the White Mountain website and the dogs looks both beautiful and like incredibly competent working partners for a willing trainer. Can't wait to see your pick and hear all about your new training adventures (don't skimp on puppy pics for us!!).
