Hello, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. Actually I contacted Ed for advise about a rescue and he suggested this forum.
Last June I lost my beloved 8 year old GSD after a tumerous spleen was removed. I rescued him at the age of 10 months (he was more then serveral hands full), and I also have 4 year old female rescue. We are both ready to begin our search to add yet again a handsome, big and smart boy that get's along with Jazz as well as the 3 cats at our house (oh, the "man person" too..) Personally I like the working line dogs. I grew up in Austria and thus this is both the look and temperament I grew up with.
Age is somewhat flexible, but I definitely like to take him throught ob training, and then see what might fit the dog best, i.e. tracking, herding, schutz, etc. My dogs are always my priority and live revolves around their well being.
As mentioned a rescue would be my first choice as it does make a difference to that one dog.
I would appreciate you thoughts and maybe experience with getting a dog from someplace where you have not had a chance to meet him before committing, this feels a bit unnerving to me..
Thank you for your response,
I have a super rescue dog available, located in central PA so maybe too far away - but he might be worth the trip. Contact me at eichenluft@aol.com He should be added to my website shortly, sent the info this morning to my webmaster with pictures.
