I'm still struggling with this camera, but here are a couple of short clips of Billy heeling and sitting. Outside the sun is too bright and inside the floors are slick so we're moving slow and being careful. Heel, no command
He looks good, good attention-I'm thinking there is suppose to be a delay after click before you move your hand to treat? - seems as if you are treating same time your are clicking in the sitting video-couldnt really hear clicking in heeling video so didnt know if you were clicking or not
Good Job! I'm sure more knowledgable people will chime in but thats my rookie observation
Thanks Jennifer. You may be exactly right Kathy. My computer has a hard time with streaming video so for me it's all out of sync. I just started working with him in any position. So what I had been doing is click-treat very fast, my timing may need some work. Thanks.
Very impressive! Your pup looks like he is really having fun and not stressed. Just one small thing - there should be small (i.e. 1-2 second) pause between the click and the treat. It may be the video, but you want the dog to understand that a click marks what they did correctly and because of this, a reward will follow. It may not be a big issue here, but this is probably more for the handler (you) so that you do not develop a habit of click-with-treat (where the dog will associate your hand's movement instead of the click sound) rather than click-then-treat.
Oh, and one last thing - I'm not sure what you did immediately after this video, but throw a party for your pup when you're done with this little exercise. In other words, play with him to relieve the stress that comes with focus.
I know this sounds like I am contradicting my earlier post saying that he does not look stressed, but I'm sure you know the difference.
Lol, thanks Sarah.(You know it's mostly the dog) No, he can't see them they're in a loose fist, but I am luring him with my hand so it's probably not much different. I've been trying to get something decent to post Connie but I seem to be digitaly challenged. Your right Siaty, I am a little too quick with the treat. I just went from working real quick click and reward to bringing him into position so I will have to work on my timimg.
The only reason for not playing and jumping after was the slick floors. It's like being on Ice for a dog. I am planning on trialing Billy, hopefully to a Sch.3. And thanks for looking at them everyone.
