WARNING!!! COMPLETELY RANDOM POST ALERT!!
Okay, so I'm going insane. Any ideas? Mom's at work, two older girls are in bed, baby's crying/screaming and won't stop, and the pup has lost his ever lovin mind! (Quite frankly, I can't decide which to put in the kennel in the garage.. the pup or my daughter.. is that wrong?)

Heh, I totally feel your pain.
It gets easier, on both fronts.
Put the pup in the crate, turn up the radio and dance with the baby.
Seriously.

(Quite frankly, I can't decide which to put in the kennel in the garage.. the pup or my daughter.. is that wrong?) No. At least I hope not....
The difference is if you ACTUALLY crate the kid.
Alyssa is a smart woman.:wink:That is great advice.

You mean I wasn't supposed to put Adam in the crate??? No wonder he was such a difficult teen...
The dog will be fine, as will the pup. Turn up the music and try to enjoy these chaotic moments. We lost Adam at 25 years of age... What I would give for those horrible, difficult, endless days.
Really... they do pass. All too quickly. Hang in there - THIS will be one of those funny memories you share over dinner a few years from now - I promise.

Well... the son has made it to age four, and the pup will be a whole year old on the 12th of this month.
It really does get easier... or at least, it stays difficult, but in a new way.
Instead of crying and whining, you get, "You're mean!" and "Grr, ruff."

Well, my wife seems to think our daughter is beginning the teething process (which is why she's crying/screaming so much), and the pup, well.. he's just bein a pup I guess!
Anyway, I gave her some tylenol (my daughter, not the pup) and a bottle, and the pup finally settled down once she quit crying (probably pickin up on her nerves as well as mine?)..
So finally, all is still, all is calm, except in my head, but no one can see/hear that, so it's all good!

Ah teething... soooooo much fun.
Every kid is a little different.
Rotating back and forth between tylenol and motrin helps tremendously.
Frozen bananas, wash clothes, waffels, etc.
I'm betting you know all this, though.

Motrin? Okay, silly question, but how do you give a baby motrin?
Frozen bananas?? What, sliced up and let her chew on them?
No, I don't know all this.. lol, in fact, I feel as if I know NOTHING!!
Our two older girls are my wife's daughters from a previous marriage, and I wasn't around when my son was this age, so I'm pretty much experiencing this as a new dad..
So let the suggestions continue!!! (With details!)

They make liquid Motrin/Ibuprofen for infants. Just like Tylenol.
Cut the banana in half before you freeze it. Just let her gum on the entire banana half. *DISCLAIMER* ONLY do this when you are around. As the banana thaws, it usually becomes mushy and is not big deal. However, some kids are especially talented at getting whole chunks off. So, you want to stay close and moniter, just in case.
Same deal with frozen waffles.
Frozen washclothes pose less choking risk, but its always good to stick around ANYTIME an infant/toddler has anything in their mouth. I swear, some kids could choke on a bowling ball.
As far as the dog goes, the crying probably is stressful.
Children, especially babies crying usually distresses most dogs.
The crate is probably the best place for the dog when the baby is crying. It will help the puppy be calm, and also keep him from being underfoot if you end up giving in to all those heart-wrenching cries and picking the baby up.

I call these "baby kongs".
They can get messy as hell, but its worth it if they like it.
We've put banana, apple, grape 1/2's, ice, anything you want.
Might not necessarily help with teething, but it will keep 'em busy for a little while.
