She was fine last night, enjoying a game a frisbee. A bit stiff, perhaps, but nothing unusual for an almost 9 year old dog ... a little thin, but nothing unusual for her, she has always been thin, Jenna never cared much about eating.
This morning, she was gone. She would have been 9 in May.
Thank you all for your kind words. She did appear to have gone peacefully in her sleep. Silly girl, does she not know when you go to sleep you are supposed to wake up in the morning?
Michele, the only thing she was ever diagnosed with was spondylosis. She was at the e-vet several months ago for obstipation because I gave her too much bone. Nothing grossly wrong with her though, according to the vet. She had occasionally seemed a bit off the last few months, hard to describe and intermittent. It was nothing serious, she was just a bit quiet and not herself somedays. I just chalked it up to her getting older, especially since her frisbee always perked her up. She seemed happy and perky last night. Perfectly herself.
I am glad it appears to have been peaceful and pain free, but I am sad that I was not with her. I breaks my heart even more that she had to die alone
Oh, it Is so hard. One day, like you said, playing like normal, then next day gone...that is exactly what happened to my dad. My heart is heavy for you today. I'm sure you made every moment she was with you good for her...moments are the only thing any of us have. I'm glad you made hers meaningful (and vice versa.)
