My friend just got a RED German shepherd pup with a black muzzle.
I am wondering what color this dog will be when it gets older?
Will it get blacker like some of the sables that start out blonde?
This pup is red like I have never seen. My buddy said the dad
was black/tan/red mostly black. Mom was blonde sable/mostly blonde. Dad had big blocky head and mom was the female looking type of shepherd. Also he said other pup in litter ranged from
All black, sable, blonde, black/red/tan
This pup looks like a extra large malinois with it's black mask.
Anyone raised a red pup shepherd? What color did it turn out
to be?
Think I will stop over later in the week and take some pics.

sable (denoted by the black mask) is a very diverse color. It could darken up a little, barely, or alot. Depends on the bloodline but it is as diverse a color as bay is in horses.
This dog could end up nearly black or very red. Either way doesn't matter much, she if bred from quality lines will appear like a GSD as an adult.
My dog, Ellie, is a sable -- here is a picture of her as a puppy. She looked like a fuzzy, little red fox for several months then started to darken substantially between 6 - 9 months. My signature pic is of her at 3 years.
Good looking dog you have. It will be interesting
to see how dark the pup gets. He does not have as much black as the your pup did so maybe he will be lighter.
Thanks for the photo's.
