Hello all,
I'm new to posting on the forum and am considering how a friend's ~15 month old female from the same parents as this dog might suit me - Pedigree.
I would greatly appreciate any comments on her pedigree. I'll be glad to share my impressions of her and my background + interests but thought maybe it might fit this forum better and simplify things to just ask about the pedigree.
Many thanks,
Dave
PS - her hips are 0/0 as were her mother's, but one of her mother's siblings had bad hips. Oops, mom's hips have changed to HD-FCI: A 1/2 since I last looked.

My only real concern would be the heavy, close line-breeding on Grim.
Otherwise, it looks very nice.

Interesting combo. Be careful w/Czech dogs' hip ratings; often, they are LIES. The database will list them as 0/0's and in reality, those who really know those peds will tell you that is not the case at all. I am not an expert on which particular dogs crossed on Grim are less problematic in terms of linebreeding (hips), but there are people who could tell you this. I can PM you their names if you like.
Do you KNOW for a fact that her hips are 0/0? Have you seen the original ratings? Where are you getting her from?

At 15 months old you pretty much know what you got including hips. I wouldn't worry much about the pedigree unless it was a dog for breeding.

Yes, Jason, you are correct...unless the hip rating is NOT truly what is stated...which happens a LOT on Czech peds.
The OP asked about opinions on Ped. I think it's an interesting mix...
Unfortunately, I have some experience on the hip thing; the OP needs to see the ACTUAL hip rating/cert. or the xrays w/some proof that it's the same dog, unless he knows the seller very well, which is why I asked where the dog was coming from. The worst hips I have ever seen were out of all 0/0 hips...which were all lies.

The rating certificate said 0/0? or you assumed the pedigree database was correct?

Of course I didn't assume the database was correct, LOL. The dog's papers had incorrect ratings on them.
It wasn't my dog. The dog was bought as a puppy, partially chosen due to parents' (and many others) hip ratings. Turns out, the papers were wrong. Someone with access to the originals exposed it after the owner of the dog inquired b/c he was so surprised his dog had such terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) hips when everyone else was clean. Somewhere between there and here, papers got changed and the ratings were passed on as fact.
I don't know how much experience the OP has, so I just wanted him to be extra careful.

Thanks very much for the comments so far. The owner is a friend and I believe he had hip certification done after he imported her. Given what's been said, I'll find out for a certainty about the hips. Breeding would be a secondary consideration for me, but I am very interested in the subject. I would prefer to own a dog that could potentially contribute to the breed if it turned out to be exceptional.
I've been involved in SchH for about a year now and have been working with my 3 year old Doberman, Kao (out of nobody). My interests are in sport and I need a dog that acts appropriately in everyday life.
From what I've seen and can gather from friends, the pup seems like a good bet. She's been raised so far as a SchH dog rather than a pet and trained with more emphasis on protection than tracking or obedience. My impression (supported by friends with more experience) is that she's off to a very good start as a sport dog. Extreme drives, very clear head, wants to please, very steady & detailed tracking, hits like 80 rather than ~50 lb dog.
My first concern was how well socialized she might be. She came for a one day visit a couple of weeks ago, and I was very encouraged. She was intensely focussed on me and her behavior with people and other dogs surprised me. She was friendly with people and playful with other dogs if introduced to them. If a strange dog approached quickly, she barked steadily (and calmly, if that makes sense) without showing hackles. She was completely neutral about busy sidewalk activity.
My Dobie lives in the house and they seemed more than compatible. She wrestled with him for 6 straight hours between outings and after about 14 hours on the move went to her crate for the night (and spent part of it shredding her bedding). It's a good thing Kao outweighs her by about 45 lbs or she might have worn him to a frazzle. Obviously, she won't be getting free run of the house.
Please offer more comments/suggestions.
Thanks again,
Dave

Well, when you get right down to it, you can't trust *anything* on that Pedigree Data Base site, I've seen so many mistakes and outright lies on the pedigrees there that I wouldn't trust any of them.
