I'm all moved into my new house and I got time to pick up training again, I did some tug work this evening and she keeps targeting the ends, she developed this bad habit as a puppy, she learned if she bites the hand I drop the tug. I though I got her back in the center but she went back to the bad habit. How do I get her in the center again without discouraging her bite work?
Back-tieing her might help give you more control, and make it easier for you to guide her to the sweet spot.
Helping her to regrip to the correct spot can make a difference, too.
If she is doing this on a sleeve, I would definitely go the backtie route, and make sure you are keeping your wrist up.
I don't know how old your dog is, but it may also be a sign that she isn't ready for the sleeve yet, or needs a break from it.
Danke is a year, and waxes and wanes in her enthusiasm for the sleeve. Some days it's too much, and it manifests itself in poor targeting and premature outs.
If I step back and use the tug for a bit, she returns to the sleeve with renewed enthusiasm, and good strikes, targeting and grip.
She's three, I had her back tied and was using a tug, she would shoot for the center then snap over to either end. for the last year all the tug work I did was just play with no real training, just letting her burn off energy
Try a backtie or backtie on a bungee. If she targets the correct location initially, keep tension on the tug/sleeve so she can't regrip on a different location without losing it.
What does she do when she "wins" the tug - regrip to the end? shake it around? push it back in to you?
We commonly use the plastic cut from old bleach bottles to wrap around the top and hand portion of a sleeve - dogs don't like biting the plastic surfaces and will usually shift their bites back towards the center of the sleeve.

regrips to the end and shakes the crap out of it like a rat terrier
