That looks like fun! Congrats and (early) happy birthday!
How far from Eureka Springs are you? My Dad lives a little bit north of there and we took a day trip to Eureka Springs last time we were there to visit him. Nice little town.
When I got home that day and looked it up, and saw that they fed raw, it was a no brainer.
It's got to be impressive to watch and hear all those big cats eat.
And they must be eating a LOT - Alex and Bear look like the tubbiest specimens of their respective breeds that I think I've ever seen! I know, they've had rough lives (seriously, some of those bios sound SAD), and they probably don't get too much exercise... but wow. And I though HOUSE cats were trending large... at least they all have a safe "forever" home now where they can live peacefully and somewhat naturally. And surely they're not ALL on the chubby side...
Not to poo poo your trip Michael - it actually sounds really cool. As an immense lover of wildlife myself, and a natural illustrator, spending some time with those big cats would be really thrilling (and make for some great sketchbook work ). Can't wait to see your pictures!!
I'm sure there is a good explanation for the fat ones seeing as how there are more that are in good shape.
Alex came from a drug raid and Bear was being fed dog food by a 9 year old boy when they got him. I'll bet the perps in the drug raid and the 9 year old weren't "up" on big cat/bear nutrition.
Happy early birthday, what a cool present. At some of these places they let you take home/buy the animals food dish (usually plastic and full of puntures by the end) you can say it's for the baby we all know who it will really be for.
I hope there's a good explanation for their weight, they are HUGE.

Yeah, I went back and looked through all their galleries and there were definitely critters in there that were not crazy fat. Additionally, their coats were all bright and clean and they looked otherwise very healthy - especially given the unusual living conditions some of them came from. I didn't mean to be snotty.
