Does anyone have any good natural remedies they take for an upset stomach?
...I get one on a monthly basis Stupid body....
I'm thinking I need to eat more ginger. Any other ideas?
I read something today that said red wine was good for upset stomachs! I'm having some now, strictly medicinal, of course (forgot and left the room, came back and Teagan must be suffering from an upset stomach too....heh)

I just made some carrot ginger coleslaw because my tummy felt wonky, great minds
Red wine would make me barf if my tummy was upset, but I do usually drink white wine a couple of days a month because it works better than anything else.
Peppermint is a good natural remedy for upset stomachs, I like the tea.

Duh! I have a bunch of peppermint tea!
Carrot ginger coleslaw sounds yummy....
It just bugs me b/c I think I'm going to end up riding the trainer tonight instead of running, if I run at all it'll just be some short 5k, when I wanted to go to 20k with 14k of hill repeats (I'm weird, I love hill repeats) - but there is noooo way my stomach is up to that.

Ginger!
If you are a juicer, I really like carrot/apple/orange/ginger juice. Helps keep my nausea at bay. I am nauseous all the time and ginger really helps.
You can also make homemade Ginger-Ale by mixing gingerroot (mashed or juiced) with sparkling water. (Remember when your mom used to give you ginger-ale when you had the flu? Well ginger-ale used to have real ginger in it.)
I've also made ginger tea by boiling mashed ginger, cinnamon and water together. Didn't taste all that great but it did help my stomach.

I used to get pineapple/papaya for the bunnies (it helps break down hairballs and stuff). Didn't know it helped w/upset stomachs too. Cool!
I think I'm going to have to start loading up on ginger when I get my period. I don't have a juicer Angela, but I like blending fruits and making smoothies anyways, so....yummers...I could add that in.
I always get the low-fat yogourt - but the active culture stuff is good for a bunch of stuff. Yumm, yogourt. This thread is making me hungry (Perfect when my stomach is upset)
Plus that way I won't have to worry about if I forget and leave my glass unattended when Teagan is around. Toby's mom gave me nice clay wine cups (all old-school Roman-style) for X-mas and they're easy access for Teagan. Toby said he bets Teagan would be a mean drunk....I was like 'Well....uh....maybe....well, probably, yeah' I shouldn't say that, she's a sweetheart (Other than when she steals my wine or beer of course!)

Tonights dinner creation for my wonky tummy
bag Grated carrots
bag Grated coleslaw
1/2 juice from a large can of crushed pineapples
half of the pineapples from the can
splash of apple cider vinegar
handful of chopped cilantro
2 tsp(ish) grated fresh ginger
I mixed all that together then added Some Kraft sesame ginger dressing I found at the store today, I don't know how much, a couple of TBL probably, just enough to make everything coated
I just gave my son a taste and he said its ok, then two minutes later asked me for a bowl of it.

You want fresh pineapple, not canned. The bromelain (enzyme that aids in digestion) is degraded by the heat of the canning process, like many enzymes.

Really? I can't get whole fresh pineapple now, but cut-up fresh pineapple, yes. I always used to hate pineapple but Toby likes it so we've started having it for dessert more. The miracles of greenhouses and shipping food ridiculous distances. I always think the 100-mile diet sounds amazing, but, then....
