and does not like her crate...LOL. That said, she is being quiet right now. Hambone is with me. Earlier, she was yawlping and bawling like she was dying. She is good!
(I spoke too soon...sigh)
Hambone did charge her crate once...a fair correction, (no eye contact or words), and moved him away. Waited a few minutes, and another circle through the house and when we passed by the crate, he looked into my eyes the whole time we went by. Big party for that!
Here is a picture of Lucy and me at the Society...
and here is Lucy doing what she does best so far at my home...nose to ground...
I need earplugs...

Edit reason: Lucy lost her nose in the original picture..lol
Thanks for the vote of confidence! And, thanks for the compliment of Lucy, Connie. She is beautiful to me. You can't tell from the picture but she has a very deep chest that tucks up nicely at her hips, tight toes, etc. I am smitten and wish I had this dog years ago! Here's to many more years to come!
Congrats on your Lucy. Might I ask what type of dog she is? I have a full blooded beagle that looks almost just like her. She is out 9(almost)ten matiarch of the 5 dogs we own.
They say beagle? I am glad to know she looks like one. I haven't been around too many beagles to really know what they look like...other than seeing Uno on the TV.
If you know any quirks of beagles please PM me. I am interested!
Such a soulful face - she looks like the kind of fabulous companion that's always aware of what you're feeling.
My boyfriend had a beagle growing up and just adores them (even though his didn't sound like a particularly friendly individual...). He has so many stories about that dog's nose, and his appetite - tracking and eating were pretty much his reasons for living.
I hope you and Lucy can develop those beagle skills into some truly satisfying training/working together - and I hope you both have many years of friendship together ahead of you.
She is beautiful and extremely lucky to have you. It's a shame you didn't have her her whole life!
I feel the same way. Thanks!

What a doll, she has a wonderful face and sweet eyes.
How is Hambone doing with it all?
Hambone is now ignoring her whining and bawling. He walks past her crate without going near it and only gives it a sideways glance now and then.
She did let out some severe yelps that he just needed to check on her. Found out those severe yelps, high pitched and almost terror stricken means she REALLY needs to go out and potty. Those are the only times he reacts to her.
Rotating in and out is somewhat working, but she was very spoiled at the rescue and goes in her crate, but is VERY reluctant. I will win though...and I do have earplugs.
I hope the Pack Structure DVD comes soon...I want to do the whole thing right!

I am looking forward to using her nose. I think she would gain such confidence in life to WORK for something! Thanks!
