Hi, I would like to give some weight for my shi-tzu to carry on walks, because I get exhausted before he does. I dont want it to be too big or too small. Also, anyone know if one can remove the saddle bags from harness, the approach and the paradise backpack. Jennifer
I'm not sure if the small size would fit a shi-tzu - I have a small for my 30lb mutt puppy and it fits him. I don't think they make anything smaller but don't quote me.
The newer Approach packs do not separate from the harness; the Palisades packs do though.
Edit: I just checked the Ruffwear website; the Palisades does not come smaller than a small, and unless I'm totally wrong about the size of shi-tzus, I can't see anyway it would fit yours - the Approach pack does come as small as XXS though, so I would expect that would fit, but it doesn't separate from the harness.
Hi, I also looked at the ruffwear packs, I dont think it would fit either. The approach pack xxs would fit, its just very expensive. Im looking for others that are more affordable. I think though, my shi-tzu hass long hair and rigular harnesses slide around his body. This is the best one I have seen. Thanks Jennifer
They are expensive, especially when you're getting a smaller size.
When Neb was still a baby I got him a small pack - it could only hold a roll of poop bags each saddle (I got it so he could have a pack like my other dogs) - but it would probably be perfect for your guy. I will try to find it at home tonight and let you know the manufacturer. I remember it being reasonably priced, around $20.
