We had a big success this morning!!
We have been dealing with some sudden onset dog aggression for the last couple of months and working hard on pack structure and self control.
On our walk this morning there was a couple walking a lab that looked to be 7 or 8 months old, still a puppy and goofy, but big.
He completely ignores small dogs, won't even acknowledge they exist
I put Yote in a sit at my side putting me between him and the other dog, tightened up my grip on the leash and calmly told him he was being a gooooood dog.
He sat calmly while the dog approached from about 1/2 a block away did not hackle or vocalize at all and only briefly looked at them as they walked past.
As soon as they were past us I did the happy good boy party dance, I was so proud of him!!! Those people probably thought I was a nut though
We have also been having him and Loki in the same room at night when we are both home, They calmly lay on their beds or at our feet with no aggressive displays or hard stares or defensive posturing
They are of course closely watched and both wear leashes so that we can stop anything before it starts. I won't ever trust them on their own together but I really would like to have them behave themselves in the same room so that we can have a somewhat more normal (for us) existence with them.

It might seem insignificant to some, but as someone who has "partied" over similar accomplishments, I congratulate you both! It's such a terrific feeling to have a previously out of control dog actually calmly focus on you and ignore a distraction. I also know this behavior doesn't come easy, your efforts are clearly paying off - keep up the great work!!
Thats great!! I also had to do the same with my GSD. he was this way toward some dogs and some people as well. He is doing great now and passed his BH without a hitch in that area.
Thanks!
I got home and was so happy I was a little teary eyed
These tears are so much more enjoyable aren't they? You are doing a wonderful job. The more instances you have like this the sooner it will become the norm. Doesn't that have a nice ring to it "normalcy" ?

Oh yes!!
much better than sobbing in the bathroom because my dogs just tried to rip each others throats out!
