I'm new here and new at formal dog training. I have two Rotties,Ugo 11 mos.old and Angus 5mos.old.My hope is to train them both atleast well enough to get their CGC certificate.Right now I'm working on bonding and establishing myself as pack leader
so far so good thanks to the help of Ed's articles.
I've been reading the posts and everyone knows so much. Are all of you dog trainers?

We're all dog trainers in the sense that we all train our own dogs.
Some of us are "professional" dog trainers, in the sense that we get paid to train OTHER people's dogs (not me!)
Some of us are "semi-professional" in the sense that we volunteer training to local rescue organizations or other dog-in-trouble situations.
But all of us are trainers in that we train our own dogs.

That's GREAT Alyssa. The most I have ever done is train a dog to lead until now.I've been working with Ugo and Angus on the long down and short sits and they do well with that.Ugo will fetch and retrieve and yesterday for the first time he sat on command.
I'm ordering a prong collar and the dominate dog collar that Ed suggests for Ugo and the training videos he suggests.
I've got two fears, one that I'm afraid that I may traumatize them and the second b/c they are males I'm afraid as they get older they may become aggressive. So, I'm pondering if maybe I should neuter Angus when he is 6mos old.I'd like both of them to be gaurd dogs as we have a small horse farm.
They both have their own crates, and I work with them individually and allow them supervised play time together. So far am I on the right track?

Welcome to the forum. If you want to talk about your dogs Ugo and Angus, it is better to create a new thread. Not everyone will your thread in here.

I second that.
Can you start a new post in the General Dog area, so we can all respond to your concerns?
That'd be great.
