The last couple weekends I have spent making a window seat in my dining room. Been meaning to do it for the last five years I am not really that handy in the house so I am pretty proud of myself. I did not have any plans, just a picture from a catalog that I liked and I just tweaked it a bit.
As a seasoned woodworker, let me add, "Very impressive work!"
Much nicer than the original. And mitered corners as well? Not something the "not really that handy" will usually tackle - successfully. I don't think you need any more "advice" from Home Depot.
LOL, Mike if you were a little closer to the bench, you would see my mitered corners have a bit of wood putty in them :-p Thanks for the compliment though! It really has given me some confidence to tackle other projects around the house - like tiling :-)
The biggest issue that I had with the window seat was making the support frame. I have old plaster walls (1921 Bungalow) and did not want to depend on something drilled in to them to support weight. So I had to put my head together with those in the know at home depot.
It *might* be a Montanan thing. Lol. I just recently had mail with pictures in my inbox of demo to total room remodel (that and the fact that Bozeman blew up!) by the only other person I know there.
Very nice work Ingrid. Now all's you need are the dogz sitting there making nose art on that beautiful window.
