ok, someone sent me this link:
and im absolutely flabbergasted at this site!
The amount of puppies they have and the amount of puppies they say they will have arriving soon FLOORS me!!!
and i have never ever seen a site where underneath pictures of puppies there is a "click to add to cart" symbol!!! It's like you're grocery shopping!
Is this what looking for a dog has come to?
ok, well this doesn't sit well with me
Quote from site:
To protect the health of our puppies, no one visiting our store is allowed to view any of our puppies until they are done their quarantine period and placed in our store. Quarantine puppies can be viewed by appointment only.

Would you like to delete that link and just describe it or something? I sure do hate to give them free advertising. (Remember that this site is free to view, member or not; our members would never use a site like that, but again ..... )

sorry Connie I didn't even think of that.
link removed.
they have 51 at their facility right now waiting to be sold
and from what it seems another 72 puppies arriving in april!
Mostly mixes but some one breed dogs too.
No info on their facility on the site at all, and when i clicked on the tab that said "about us" all it took me to was a picture of the staff there all holding puppies, no information at all.
i can't believe that facilities like that are allowed to run without some sort of flag going up.

Nope. It is buyer beware.
Actually as sad and sick as that is... I can think of other examples. Remember the place where (then senator) Biden bought his GSD? The person had a heck of a lot of GSDs (I think 180 or so).
There was a thread recently of a puppy mill where the person had nearly a thousand dogs.
And I watched a documentary on Canadian Pet Stores which showed footage of on of the American "holding facitilies"/brokers where dogs would go when they were between mill and storefront. (I have a link to the documentary if you are interested).
Our local pet store always has signs advertising their mutts and it always says "new selections arriving soon!" It literally is like shopping for clothing or an accessory. And when your little bichon-poo comes down with luxating patella or organ defects, and suffers as a result.......... it's nobody's fault. grrr
It is all 100% legal.

But the puppy came with PAPERS! This is no ordinary bichon-poo, she is REGISTERED! And the mother was registered too!

Wendy, Angela, what was the documentary called? I'm not sure I'd enjoy watching it, but it sounds interesting.
Tracey, heh. One day I'll have to register my Hurrier (Husky/Terrier - Toby made up the name to annoy me after he was telling me about a friend's puggle and I said 'you mean a MUTT?' )

Im not sure if the one im refering to is the exact one Angela is, but the one im talking about is this one:

It's not bad at all. Very interesting. More about how these companies that mass produce these puppies for profit and sell them in large quantities to places like the one I saw.

Poor Dinglehopper. Little guy reminded me of my Eddie... he had luxating patella too...
Why on earth do people think a simple papered pedigree is ANY indication of the health of a puppy?? Even the most inbred, genetically damaged dog has a pedigree - it's just a crap one! I suppose having the paperwork would allow you to individually look up each dog in the lineage (if they were all registered) and see if you could find OFA scores and such, but no one does that.
At this point, I just can't see how anyone could claim they didn't know, or at least assume, that their pet store puppy came from anywhere other than a mill>broker chain... when dogs become a consumer product at that scale, there's just no other way to make it profitable.

Same reason why many people think that any individual of a particular breed is exactly the same as any other. Every Yorkie is the same as any other Yorkie. As if they were a mass-produced commodity. Barbie Dolls.
People in my office the other day were talking about what a bargain it would be to get one of the many purebred pups rescued by the Missouri Humane Society from a recent puppy mill raid. A bargain, because it would be cheaper to adopt from the Humane Society than buy a purebred pup from a breeder. Well, yeah. And adopting a rescued dog is a noble thing to do. But not because it's CHEAPER. It's not a clearance rack.
