So Blizzard has been doing really well not fixating on Reesee almost at all and it was such a nice day out today, not too cold but not hot enough to get really warm out there hiking around so we took a really rare trip out with both dogs.
It was kind of a test too, if he had trouble focusing on commands or bothered her too much with play we would end it but he did almost perfectly! Recalls still sharp as nails.
Still, I've noticed a weird and sudden change in him, as if he just suddenly realized Eric was his favorite buddy in the world. Maybe it's the help we got from all of you! Either way, he is now getting very excited when Eric greets him and jumps and plays, although biting is getting common when it wasn't even a close issue before.
Their only real interaction was when one of us threw a stick and the other tried to join in and once when Reesee had a stick and let him come up and take it off the ground from her before she walked off. Not sure if I should have allowed it to happen but I was trying to get a good picture of em both and was late catching it. She is about as dominant as a mouse and would let the cats take her things if I let em. There's a picture of that moment, actually. Otherwise, they both ran around doing their own thing happily and interacting with us.
We went to Weldon Springs park about 5 minutes away from our house, it's never crowded and in the right places-such as where we were, you can walk miles and miles into hiking trails behind the park so we let them off-leash way back there-with e-collars on of course. It's a lovely park, and I've been going there since I was born. You'll run across deer carcasses, antler sheds and other interesting things too.
Both of us were kind of lazy and left their prongs on instead of carrying them when we didn't need them so both the poor mutts are wearing three collars but they didn't seem to mind the least, in fact they're beat at the moment and snoozing away.
Got tons of great pictures until the camera died on me!
Haha, yeah. We'll probably have to be a little more careful in the peak of summer, but then again, I have never run across anyone back there. It's kind of away from the main park though.
