Capper said "Watching Glenn Beck right now.
He has Marcus Luttrell on. He heard a gun shot after dark outside his house last night. Got his gun and ran down the tree line, crawled down a ditch. He heard some punks laughing. They had just shot his dog with a .357. They took off and he chased them with his truck, trying to run them off the road. He said that he could have shot them, and wanted to. Shows that responsible gun owners can control themselves. He was on the phone with the policeduring the 110 mph + chase. They set up a roadblock and caught them.
In case you don't know who Marcus Luttrell is, he is the only survivor of a team of Navy Seals that were sent to capture or kill a notorious al Qaeda leader in Northern Afghanistan. His book is unbelievable and should be read to get a good understanding of what they went through.
He named is golden lab that was killed, and that was given to him by a rehab group, Daisy, after the call signs of his dead team members.
These low life ****s are lucky Marcus didn't catch them."

That makes me so damn mad! What a senseless thing to do. These losers that did this should go to jail just as if it was murder in the 1st. It was premeditated killing.

Don't know what to say to this. Sad, mad....I don't know.
This is horrible. This would now be a mandatory felony where I live. Wish it were the same everywhere.

This is just tragically sad. The pain in Marcus's voice was palpable and my heart goes out to him. He exhibited some pretty unbelievable restraint while apprehending those criminals... more respect than they deserved, that's for sure...
So, so sad.

I heard about this the other day, very sad.
I have to give the man credit for acting like a true professional where so many completely fail at that task. It's extremely easy to cave into knee jerk reactions but more than twice as difficult to not cave in. Had he shot them he'd be no better than them and I dare say that human life is far more valuable than canine life.
I don't anthropomorphize in any sense, dogs are dogs to me and since my dogs do mean a great deal to me I keep them safe instead of allowing them to be in a position to be shot or poisoned...I learned that lesson when someone stole my rottie many years ago and I accept 100% of the blame for it. If I had thousands of dollars invested in training, I'd be even more diligent in keeping them safe. It's easy to blame these cowards, but what about the owner who let the dog run free? Don't we always blame that person, for not keeping the dog secured, when a loose dog bites? Why is this any different?
My hope is that these cowards don't follow through with their threat. Never underestimate a coward because a hunting rifle with a scope, in competent hands, is more than a match for who he is.

I saw this on the Glenn Beck show last night, it was very moving.
Those dirt bags are *very* lucky that Marcus ( aka former Navy SEAL with extensive combat experience ) didn't just kill all four of them.
And if he had, the world would have been much better off with four less scum bags.
I would have been glad to have helped him bury the bodies.....

Not sure I agree. I'd personally rather know his dog was safe and sound and alive than know these scumbags are walking the streets, waiting for them to grab a teenage girl, or a kid, or whomever strikes their fancy when they finally get their nerve up for it. (Which this type of thing is a dress-rehearsal for)

This story broke my heart last night when I saw it on T.V... not only for the dog, but good grief, how much more does Marcus have to bear? It would seem the man has paid his dues and deserves a chance to heal in peace and quiet.

at that task.
and I dare say that human life is far more valuable than canine life.
Scott, that's your opinion. A lot of people would disagree, especially when the human life we are talking about is a scum bag who is likely on the path of a career criminal that is going to leave a trail of sorrow ( for other people ) their entire life.
Let's see......my dog's life ( who has a valuable job and brings me joy ) or the scum bag's life ( who is destined to cause so many people grief )......not really a tough decision in my book.
For me, my dog's life is far more valuable than a scum bag's life. As I have said, the world would be a better place without those sick cowards who feel that driving around killing people's dogs is fun.
Had I been in that situation, the outcome would have been different, with only a news article about "Four men missing in Texas".
I've posted this before, but I still think that people should get this book so that can have a "flexible" response if trouble arises in the future:
http://www.amazon.com/Be-Your-Own-Undertaker-Dispose/dp/0873646975/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239137041&sr=8-1
And of course here is where I say "this book is for entertainment only".....

I wouldn't recommend screwin' with my dog.
In the big moral scheme of things, I am sure that it is probably true that the life of a dog has more moral value than the life of a human.
However, in MY world, there are very few people worth more to me than my dog. My dog has earned my respect and love- most humans have not.
I'm not advocating the killing of anyone, or any thing.
However, the laws of my state grant me the right to protect my life, the lives of my family and my personal property.
Regardless of whether I consider my dog my family, or my property, I WILL protect her with a well-placed explosively propelled hunk of metal.
She'd do it for me, if only she had thumbs.
As far as Mr. Lutrell goes... I can only imagine his agony.
Once again a close friend and teammate has been taken from him by sick twisted punks with no respect and no values.
