nice dogs but I have to call you on the fact you are working dogs in aggression in public areas. What if a kid, or a vagrant stepped in front of the dog? What if a stray dog wandered in? What are you presenting to the general public? They aren't going to see the perfect obedience, they are just going to see "vicious dog" and scream for BSL.

I'm with Dennis here - it's unprofessional to do bite work on public/government property without barriers being set into place, full insurance, and crowd control.
Safety appears to have been ignored all so that some filming could be done, and that says *a lot*.....none of it good.
Shame on ya'll!
And somehow I'm doubting that permission was given by whatever local government body had jurisdiction for those areas.

The video and dogs were impressive.
Now to add on to what Will has stated. From the video there was a surprising LACK of "crowd" so that would let me believe that there may have been some form of crowd control in place - I mean I didn't even see ONE passerby. Or this simply may have been several cases of good luck where no one wandered by. Only you can answer that.
If there was crowd control then good for you. If not, then what Will said.
On a more positive note - the dogs did an amazing job!! Kudos for that.

What about the people flying a kite? I don't think they were involved with the dogs. There was no barrier between the people and the area where they were working the dogs.

Yes I stand corrected! You are 100% correct - I missed that. Good point.

Peter, this thread is another good reason that I love this forum.
There are people here that are experienced, I mean EXPERIENCED and can easily see things with a casual observance that many of us miss.
When you can, pour over past threads, even the ones that you don't think would apply to you and your dog and you can get an enourmous amount of information about the nature of dogs.
It's a mindset that you get into.
After it all 'clicked' with me, I realized that there is nothing that I couldn't do with my dog.
My dog is a little ankle biter, super high energy (think JRT on crack) and was a rescue at six months from a kill shelter. So, you can imagine some of the problems she had.
If I hadn't found this site, my poor dog would probably have ended back in shelter because of my lack of understanding.
Now, she is a lovely dog. Still hyper active, still pretty barky, but she is learning more all the time and is making a wonderful companion.

Peter, I would ask you to look closely at the video:
At the start of the video, they are doing bite work next to a bridge underpass - you can clearly see that they have no barrier in place behind them which leaves a huge gap in which people could wander onto the site, placing them at risk for a bite. The video shows them doing off leash sends for a bite at the same site - and this is *public* property, obviously.
Do I even need to mention the risk that this folks place their dogs at by doing off leash escape bites next to a freeway? You can see the guard rails of the road clearly at 0:18 seconds in the video - that is placing a dog at a risk that no professional dog trainer would do. Those dogs could be on the freeway in a flash and the "trainers" ( I hesitate to even call them by this title, when I see their complete lack of foresight ) wouldn't be able to do squat to prevent their dogs from being hit by a speeding car.
The next portion of the bite video appears to be taking place in a park and there is obviously no surrounding safety fencing. Maybe they as a group have rented the park and there is safety fencing at such a distance that we all can't see, but it sure doesn't seem that way.
Next we're seeing bite work under some type of underpass by a river. Once again this is most likely public property and again there is no sign of safety fencing on the panoramic side shots that we're seeing.
You know what this all looks like to a professional? It looks like a group of yahoos doing bite work on public without safety precautions for either the public or their dogs. These people are so clueless that they don't even know that they should be embarrassed to post something like that in public - or else they don't care, in which case they're ignorant.
When I previously posted "Shame on them", I meant it.

Will - all points true.
Part of this is, in my opinion, lack of real understanding of what if any preparations were taken. Even you mentioned that we can't be sure what is off camera.
For all intents and purposes everything you state most likely is the case and I wholeheartedly agree that no safety precautions for the animals/bystanders/citizens is an BAD thing and shows lack of responsibility on the part of those handling the animals and videotaping.
I guess I always try to expect the best from people but am prepared for the worst. So, I expected that there was some precautionary measures taken even though we couldn't see them.
My mistake in not taking more careful note of the video. I also am no master trainer and have MUCH to learn (ergo - why I buy leerburg videos and am trying to be active on this site).
