Why do dogs do this gross thing? We keep our cat box cleaned out but it never fails if he can get through the block we have to keep him out of the room he will be in there munching away. He will even eat the cat poop out of the yard that other cats leave behind.( No, there are not my cats but everyone elses who thinks my yard is their litter box.) Is this good for a dog? And is there anyway to make them not want to eat it? WE clean the yard at least 2 a week but it is hard to keep up with all the cats who use my yard.
Thanks for any advice
Mmmm..."Kitty Crunchies"
Cat food is MUCH higher in protein than dog food. (Cats being TRUE carnivores)
That is the biggest speculation for why cat crap is so appealing for our dogs...they smell it as pure, yummy meat, already digested.
Not much help, other than getting rid of the cats. Some people say a cover on the box helps, but hey these are smart dogs, a cover does not fool them.
yelling at the dogs and keeping the box clean is the best combo I have found. And avoiding kisses from the dogs..ICK
I have the same problem, my GSD loves cat crap! The bummer thing is he will eat the litter as well I have placed my litter box in the basement and installed a cat door, the dog can't get down there. That solved my problem, and the cats that used to come in the yard won't because of the dog...
Leute mögen Hunde, aber Leute LIEBEN ausgebildete Hunde!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and for dealing with my stupidity for posting this in 2 different topics. I hope someday everyone who lives around me will teach their cats to poop in their yard and not mine but untill then i will try giving him something better to try when he is outside Thanks again
