I happened upon this forum a few weeks ago. I was studying for finals so naturally I got on google and started a search on dog training. A few clicks later, I was on the Leerburg site and a few hours later, I was hooked. I haven't had a chance to order any DVDs but I did order a catalog and am planning on getting one of the DVDs in the next few weeks.
In any case, I'm a college student with a passion for dogs and especially working dogs. I have a Jack Russell Terrier who is back at home and just got an Australian Shepherd pup, who is here with me at school. She (if anyone here is familiar with Aussies) is out of old stock/working lines. She will be my first official working pup, as I currently have an interest in joining a local SAR team which a friend of mine is on with her two GSDs. Since being on the Leerburg forums, my interests in Schutzhund have been peaked but my Mother has threatened to not visit me if I have a "trained attack dog" (sigh). But enough rambling, below are a couple of pictures of my new red girl. I haven't picked a name for her yet, so I'm open to any suggestions!
I've posted one photo below and will have to get one of us together sometime during the week. I'm looking forward to learning from and growing with the members of these boards!

Edit reason: I'm trying to get the image to show up.
Welcome Jasmine! Yes, Leerburg is addictive = be careful to not let if effect your studies! (Your mom should be more concerned about THAT than a Schutzhund dog attacking her!!LOL!)
Your pup is precious... good luck with your training and coming up with a good name!
Welcome! That pup is CUTE! I love the coloring on her face - sort of split down the middle. Best of luck with all your training goals for her, SAR is a wonderful outlet for a dog with a healthy work ethic. And do heed Barbara's warning - it's WAY too easy to get sucked in here!!
Thanks for the warning, I will work hard next semester to keep Leerburg from affecting my grades haha!
Thanks for the compliments on the pup! I also appreciate the name suggestions. Any ideas I had seem to have withered away and now I am at a loss as to what I want to name her. I like the prospect of "Shirley" (and the reasoning behind it) and have considered "Tatum" but I'm looking for a name that has a little more grit to it! I considered some terms commonly used on ranches/when working livestock but the one I liked the most (Concho) was my friend's old ACD's name and as such I don't think I should use it haha.
I've also tried to come up with something creative pertaining to the split down her face but I've come up with nothing special so far...the search continues!
Sorry for the delay! We've had a busy week! I decided on the name "Keiko," (KAY-KOH) which is Japanese and means "blessed". It has been a week since I've had her now and she's certainly settled in. The vet stamped her with a clean bill of health, so that's good! I also finally got a picture of the two of us together, which I added below. That is part of the requirement for the member bio, right? I hope you all have a great weekend!
