Hi all,
I am so stress about this neighbor who live behind us. She was complaining about my 7 week old gsd pup crying every night and day in his crate when he want out to potty and my 8 month old gsd will cry in the crate too when the pup crys.I train the 8 month old to shhh!!! It worked every time. But when i am not home i am sure they both crys a lot. My neighbor said she will file complain very soon. But the thing is my left and right side neighbors have dogs in the yard and barks at me and my dogs when we are out in the yard.(we are at the middle)most of the time my 8 month old ignore them. Some times she will barks back since the other dogs won't stop. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!! Please help and please someone tell me what will happen if my neighbor file complains on me. THANKS!!!
Thanks for the reply...
Yes I put towel in the crate for them.It worked.
I am not worry about the 8 month GSD tho,the 7 week puppy is the one crys all the time...since he just starts his crate training for 2 weeks....

Are you exercising and training enough to tire them out?
I find that putting a sheet over my pup's crate will quiet him down.

Are we talking Apt, condo, or house?
Reality is to be fair to your neighbor they shouldn't have to deal with a crying screaming puppy at night no matter if their dogs bark or not. The last puppy I crate trained spent it's nights in my truck crated (the weather here is very mild and my neighborhood very safe) for the sake of my housemate's sanity.
If you can't provide a solution at home that will satisfy your neighbor, I'd see if you can spend a few weeks at a friend's place with the pup or return it to the breeder or a trainer for crate training.

Great suggestions Melissa, but I wouldn't return a puppy to a breeder that let it go at 5 weeks!!!! Yikes!
I agree to cover the crate with a blanket so the puppy can't see out, make sure he's very tired, give him a stuffed frozen Kong, and/or put him at a friend or relative's house for a day or two if you can. This puppy is awfully young to be on his own. Can you put him near the other dog when you are not home? So he can see her?

Thank you at first. The 7 week old pup is doing good after the crate is FULL of toys and towel under him.^^
But my 8 month GSD is not buying all these.

We live in a Single house which in the area with a lot of dog owners except the neighbor who complains.
Lily, can you move the crate to another location in the house, where the neighbor might be less likely to hear the pup?
What others were suggesting also is to COVER the crate at night with a towel or blanket. This may help the pup to go to sleep.
Are you taking the pup out to pee in the middle of the night? You need to be doing that so that he doesn't piddle in his crate. You will need to do this until he can 'hold it' all night long.
I also put a gently worn, rolled up sock in with my pup and that seemed to sooth her. (I'm talking about the 8 week old, not the 7 month old pup-who might be able to swallow a sock)

This seems an easy fix to me. Put a bark collar on your older GSD. It shouldn't matter if the puppy is pitching a fit, he needs to be quiet. Odds are his racket is what's bugging the neighbor.
As far as the 8 week old you've received alot of suggestions that will work just fine. Sadly screaming is just part of the cratetraining process.
Boy I must be getting old!!!!. How about the old put a large
stuffed animal in the crate along with the old wind up ticking
clock? These used to be tried and true measures to help a
puppy stop whinning. Of course they have to be puppy proof!
Good Luck.
