Andrew,
*Please* do not post nearly the exact same post in different areas of this forum, the duplicate posts will just get deleted and it's more work for the Moderators.
he is 16 weeks old so he is still a pup and i have had him 10 weeks. i know hes going to bite some. but when the wife gets him out of the crate when she gets home he nips and jumps to bite her arms. and tries to boss the other dog around when we take her out to the bath room and when she is coming bake in the house.
Hi Andrew,
At 16 weeks, your pup is probably just coming into teething which means lots of biting.
Have your wife put a leash on him as soon as she takes him out of the crate. Keep it on him, even when inside the house. It's much easier to redirect the puppy off of you when he has a leash on.
Here are 2 great e-books (free) that you can read to get you started: Puppy Pack Leader Marker/Clicker Training
Are you doing any training with your pup? If not, read the marker training e-book and start right away.
What sort of exercise is your pup getting? What kind of puppy do you have?
he is a belgin malinious and german shepered mix. i walk him every night before we go to bed. play lots of fetch. and i been working on training him basic commands. i give him toys to help with the teething so maybe he would focus his teething there. what else could i do ive tried the lesh thing that you talking about. the only time he really does it is when he gets out and hes outside. what about trying to control the other dogs when he come in the house? is there anything i can do about that.
Lots of fetch? What does this mean?
One walk a day? What about the rest of the day?
A malinut x GSD with one walk a day for exercise ain't going to cut it friend, fetch not withstanding. Especially when the dog gets older.
Of course he bites, he's a dog, thats what they do. You just have to spend the next year or so teaching him what he can bite and what he can't. A little redirection can help a great deal in that reguard.
This is a good age to start shaping behavior and introducing some commands. Thats introduce, NOT expect them, but introduce them. Shaping is easy with treats and/or toys at this age; thy're so centered on you.
Be mindful and patient, don't lose control of your temper......remember this is your future partner and best buddy.
If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.
