Maribeth Deavers Webboard User Reg: 06-02-2009 Posts: 1 Loc: Offline	I have five dogs, all get along. I introduced a one year lab/chow male last weekend. Two days were fine, evening of second day he attacked my yellow lab mix who is very submissive. New dog looks for this dog and if he sees him he attacks him. I have started over and keep them separate. New dog is outside in a fenced area with two other dogs with no problem during the day. When I get home we have all dogs together but keep the yello lab hidden. We take him out later. we then walk both dogs about 10 feet apart for about 10 minutes. New dog growls and I tell him no. He eventually stops. New dog is then crated in the kitchen and yellow lab is put in the bedroom. Mr. Leerburg says let resident dogs sniff out new dog in crate but I am afraid if yellow lab comes over to the crate new dog will just feel trapped and it will make things worse. Thoughts? Can this be fixed?

Search for Chow on this board. I would suggest keeping the Chow mix isolated from the other dogs until you can resolve the aggression issue. I would not leave the Chow mix unmonitored with any of your dogs.

Are you letting them out in a yard together? What sort of control over each dog is there? How soon did you start introducing the new dog? Did you introduce in a pack or separately? As things are you are risking some horrid dog fights which can simply be prevented by keeping them seperated. In my home I have numbers that match yours fairly well. At no time are they ever all loose together. A pack of dogs will behave like a pack of dogs. At most two dogs are loose and interacting at the same time. Almost always a male female pair.
