Hello all my name is Karma and I am from Pennsylvania. I am owned by a 2 year old pug and a 10 month old GSD who has Elbow Dysplasia and Pano . Needless to say he is having a very hard time getting around and falls down alot when trying to play.
Your GSD (Yuma?) is one HANDSOME boy!! Love those giant ears!
So sorry to hear about his problems with lameness - Connie is right about the Pano being self limiting, and at least it usually clears relatively quickly on it's own. The elbow dysplasia is a different story. I'm sure the subject has been discussed many times here and I hope you can glean some good suggestions for pain management and maintenance by reading past threads.
Most important though, welcome, and enjoy the community!
(weight managed well)???Well he is 86 pounds and is still gaining a pound per week. I have him on In nova large breed adult food but after what I have been reading I am sitting here wondering if I should flip him onto a RAW diet even though "my" vet told me not to do that last week when we were there in her opinion its not a safe thing to do. I was looking at him today and thought to myself you look a little bit chunky MR.
He had the x-rays done when he was 8 months old about 7 weeks ago and his elbow was a mess.
Thank you for the welcome

Where did your dog come from? Was he from a Pa breeder?
The only thing needed for evil to exist is for good men to stand by and do nothing!!!
Yes Roger the breeder was a breeder here in P.A. It pains me to watch him be in constant pain even with the painkillers in him they don't seem to give him much if any relief.

What are the painkillers?
You may have gathered that weight management is critical for both conditions. This is something you can start today. Next meal. Just a 10% reduction is taking action.
Tell us about the painkillers, what else he gets for inflammation (fish oil and vitamin E?), and more details. One elbow only?
Is the Pano affecting the same or other limbs (at the moment?)
