OK I have not been able to sell my husband on the Raw diet but he is willing to change to a far better kibble. Has anyone had any experience with EVO ? if so I would love the input. Have been doing a lot of research on different brands and where I could buy them and this is one that looks good and I can get locally but would like any first hand info on it before I go get it. Thanks all ~ Amber

I use Evo, the only problem I had with it was that it was a bit too rich for my one dog (to put it delicately) so I had to switch to the reduced fat version.

We tried it before finally switching to raw (my husband wasn't keen on raw either, but now he's all for it since seeing how our dog is thriving on it!). The EVO is a good kibble, but it does give lots of dogs smelly gas - ours included! Be ready for the pet store people to give you a lecture on how feeding high protein kibble isn't the best for your dog! We were surprised how many of those we got when we tried the no grain/high protein kibbles. When I told them we knew what we were doing, they then got the lecture on making sure we supplied LOTS of water so it wouldn't hurt their kidneys!!
My dog is raw fed, but I've used it on and off for several years, alternating now with Orijen. She gets about 1/2 per day in the a.m., so probably not enough to have the effects others mentioned. I use it so she'll have something familiar to eat when boarded or someone else has to feed her. I started this after the last time I had to board her for a few days and tried to furnish some raw food for them to use. That was a disaster.

I've never had an issue with evo poultry other than cost. Personally I gag a little any time bags are over $60. My current favorite chows based upon the matrix of cost/quality are Acana, Taste of the Wild, and Wellness Core.
I've used Evo (the poultry, lg bite variety) for quite a long time. I never had trouble with gas or loose stools on this food. you just have to make sure not to overfeed. My dog has a tendency to be a gastrointestinal challenge (very sensitive system) and it actually improved quite a bit (but didn't disappear) when I switched to Evo.
I will say that when I switched from Innova to Evo, my dog shed his coat in a fairly ugly way at first, then it grew back beautifully. I'm not sure if that's a normal experience. I DO like that Evo is grain free.
I'm currently in the process of switching to raw because I did some math (a big deal for me, I was an art major;-) and realized that a raw diet would cost much less AND be better for my dog, but the Evo served me well in the interim.
I've never had anybody give me grief about the high protein. Our local pet food warehouse actually advocates grain-free and raw diets, providing plenty of options for both so that's not necessarily a problem.
