I think Geoff is too modest to announce the results of the last trial that he and Sasha competed in, which was held at the Michigan Ring Club on June 20th.
For those that don't know, Geoff and Sasha are training in French Ring. She currently competes at the FR1 level.
They took high score in their class, with a rating of 'excellent'.
Thanks everyone, its all about the dog. She makes me look good.
Big thanks to my French Ring Club de La Montagne out of Montreal and to Stagecoach Working dogs out of Ottawa it is a team effort between all the training decoys (who put their bodies on the line day in and day out at training) and other more experienced handlers to get my team to where we are. I am lucky to work with them.
The trial was hot and muggy and I was having difficulty with my allergies and asthma on the field. Her jump and her obedience was really good outside of her change of positions where she blew off 2 changes and crept 1m, that is where we lost 7 points. Plus I screwed up her retrieve by not throwing the item across the 5m line.. I swear that is the first that ever happened. Usually my retrieve item bounces another 2m but this time it stopped dead.
Her bitework was pretty spectacular the first exercise was the revolver attack and she took the decoy down and then lost no metres on the escapes, unfortunately she needed to be recalled twice as she was all full of herself from knocking the decoy down. (she wanted to pound on him some more) So we lost 2 points there. The Flee attack was full 30 points. Defense of Handler 29.5 the only loss .5 of a point was a change of grip during combat with the decoy. Attaque d'efface we lost 2 points because she outted early on the horn another handler error as I wasn't quick enough on my recall.
Ringsport is a lot of fun if you have a club close to you check it out.
I have had the pleasure of meeting both Geoff and Sasha and seeing them work on a couple of occasions and not only is Geoff a great handler but Sasha is just the most intense beautiful dog. She is superb.
