ABSOLUTELY no excuse for this level of neglect. I hope the offending individual(s) are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. For this to have involved "professionals" who work with and train these animals is beyond comprehension.
It angers me, right from the start that the word devestated in the title is placed in quotation marks, as if to imply that the Handlers AREN'T devestated. The article is intentionally inflammatory.
There are absolutely NO details as to what occured, and the article is clearly presented from the slant that there was negligence on the part of the Handlers.
Without the details, it's impossible to determine who may have been at fault- and I think Law Enforcement should be given the benefit of the doubt, in the absence of additional, condemning evidence.
(Forgive the grammatical and spelling errors. I'm miffed, to put it mildly.)

Unfortunately at the moment the only information comes from the media who like to inflame opinion. I'm waiting for the police force involved to make a statement. There's been a few incidents in recent years about dogs in police care dying, I won't go into details now but unfortunately people only remember the bad things.
Added to that the general public know little about working dogs - sometimes you need to leave a dog in a vehicle, while taking precautions of course. It would be so easy to pop in to get keys to the squad car and get involved in something else - an emergency or something.
I didn't post to offend, just wanted to remind people of the danger and maybe discuss it.
Recommendations on devices to keep a car cooled while you're heading into a store? Obviously something more than just a windshield screen. Has anyone tried some solar powered window vents or anything?
