So I'm thinking that I would like to give my guys a lil 4th of July treat, but I'm wondering if it's a good idea ...
Just a couple of months ago my supplier of feeder bunnies (also breeds pigs) had a young 30# pig that didn't fair well after his castration. Pig was humanely gassed and put in the freezer. When my friend offered him to me for the dogs I grabbed him and stuck him in my freezer. (I'm never one to turn down free dog food!!)
The thing is that this guy was never gutted or anything, so I've been hesitant as to whether to feed him or not. So he's just been sitting down in the bottom of the freezer.
Anyone have any thoughts about me letting my guys loose on him?
My dogs eat pig and pig guts quite often. It's called "prey model diet".
I know that watching them eat guts can be a bit disconcerting (think "Lady and the Tramp" with a twist), but it's perfectly natural.
Ugh, now I can promise you that's all I'll be thinking, whether I like it or not!
Thanks, ladies, for you're input! Piggy's almost thawed, so I'm about to let my pups go wild on 'em ... minus the worries! Funny thing, pigs are the only critter that I'm afraid of (deathly afraid), I am *not* looking forward to opening that bag ... hmmm, I may actually just let my boys have a little fun unwrapping him, too!
C'mon Kacie!!! You ain't gonna' feed this and not get us some vid, right? Can't believe you'd do that to us. I thought you cared.
I know! What a meanie I would be if I withheld the glorious guts and gore from my favorite dog folks
But I guess I do care, and I couldn't *not* record their largest "prey model" meal to date! It's not too gnarly, though, since I really couldn't bear to see so close to starting my own steak dinner...
Um, and you may want to turn down the volume a bit ... I'm not very camera savvy ... 4th of July dinner
