Hey all,
Just wondering if I could get any opinions on this breeding from some of you people out there who know pedigree's. Any input is appreciated. I'm trying to learn a little about lines and thought that this mating looked pretty good. Just like everyone else out there I'm looking for a sable rin tin tin. But better

Eric...I don't see a pedigree. PM it to me and I will gladly give my opinion if I know the dogs...FWIW. ;-)

I know Reyna. Or, I should say I know OF Reyna. She is Caleb's cousin;-). Their dams are littermates.
I don't know anything about the sire. What I see w/the linebreeding that I would take into consideration is the linebreeding on Grim. The sire is supposedly known to improve HD, but there are many who swear linebreeding on Grim causes more HD than average. Just be aware of that potential.
I guess what I think of it mostly depends on what you want to do with the dog. Reyna is a handful, from what I know of her from Brian. If you want a club dog who hangs out w/you on the couch, this may not be the litter for you. If you want one who's always on, it might be perfect. Again, I don't know anything about the sire, so there's 50% of the equation I can't comment on. Ask Brian what he anticipates the temperaments to be like. He's an honest guy from all I know of him.

I would have to agree with Jenni on this one. It depends on what you are looking for. I have a female out of Dargo, she is ALWAYS on. If she is out of her kennel she is "on". I can bring her in the house and she does seem to settle in...as much as a working dog does. Dargo and Xero are both very nice dogs. I have heard people say that they like Xero better than Dargo but I am bias towards Dargo... I have talked to a gentlement that trained in the same club as Dargo and he was very impressed by the dog. Said that he was suitable for police or sport...
My dog is a very nice female, social, highly prey driven, and tons of hunt drive...will do anything for her ball. She has stable nerves and isn't bothered by anything. I can take her anywhere ask her to go on, through, or in anything, and she will go. She does have OFA excellent hips and normal elbows.
Jenni, Capri is a *VERY* beautiful dog...I am extremely bias to the Bi-Color....very very nice looking female.

Interesting to point that out about Xero. Caleb is not a hyper dog, but he doesn't sleep, lol. Seriously, I have never caught him sleeping. He would be dead if he didn't, so I know he must, I just haven't seen it. He is always alert, and even more so if he feels I am somehow incapacitated (asleep, sick, etc.)
This may be something you would like, or it may be a bone of contention in your house and something that would get on your nerves. It's possible that you could get the same thing out of a Reyna pup. You really need to decide how high drive a dog you really want and how high an activity level is going to best suit your home. You may be better off w/a dog w/more of an off switch, instead of one of these w/2 settings- "on" and "full throttle".
Thanks, Brandon. Good to see you around.;-)

Hey Eric is this just a breeding you thought of yourself or did someone tell you it was a breeding taking place?
I am the owner of Reyna and I never thought or planned to breed her to Xant so I was just curious as to how this came about.
I know this is an old topic but I do not check the Leerburg site very often anymore and just discovered it today.

Here is my boy
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/589832.html
3-3 on Grim, was warned of floppy ears and hips, to date, no issues (he is only 16 months old). I had long and trusted conversation with Dari, and left very happy with what I was told.
As was mentioned, I have never seen Loki sleep either, tons of drive, no off switch, full go. Very explosive on initial contact of whatever he puts his mind to.
I will never be without a Czech bloodline.
Pictures of what Loki looks like now

Melanie, Just in case you didn't realize, this post is from February. I've done the same thing myself! Just didn't want you expecting a reply from the op or followups... although I'd love to hear from Jenni...
