Hi,
My name is Bonnie and I was directed to the Leerburg site by people on the RBK forum website (www.russianbearkennels.com).
Last week I picked up my 13 week old Black Russian Terrier, Dory, and am having great fun training her. I really have found the Leerburg videos helpful as I plan how I am going to train my new puppy. Thanks!
Welcome Bonnie!
The Leerburg site has some of the very best information about a multitude of subjects as well some truly great advice from the many experienced members here.
Again, Welcome!
Even though Dory is only 14 weeks old now, she is a big girl and weighs 36 pounds already. I am taking her to a puppy obedience class on Monday. My goal is to get her CGC this fall and also try Rally.
Hi Bonnie! Welcome and we want to see a pic! Puppy photos - ya' gotta have 'em!
If you keep reading more info on raising puppies on this forum, you are going to find that puppy basic obedience classes are not normally recommended, but of course that is a decision everyone has to make for themselves. You may want to do a search on this topic and see if any of the comments, pro or con, are helpful. I can assure you that you will get lots of support as needed, from some very knowledgeable folks.
I have been reading all the puppy info on this site and am really gathering alot of valuable info. One thing about Black Russian Terriers that is a little different, from the GSD for example, is that BRT's need alot of socialization as puppies so puppy obedience and puppy class socialization is very important. I will need to sort through the Leerburg methods and find what will work for the BRT breed. I am sure most of it will apply.

Bonnie, I think that what you may find here is a difference in definition of socialization.
That is, for many, while socialization is considered to be crucial, it doesn't necessarily translate to puppy classes.
