Love it!! I needed a laugh!
I can just see Howard driving along in his squad car singing this......wonder what his dog thinks!
You may find (as I did) that this stick-in-your-head song is even worse than It's a Small World or Tie a Yellow Ribbon. At least with Yellow Ribbon you don't have to say "Womeo and Juwiet, Sampson and Dewiwah ...."

What a HOOT! I don't remember seeing that before....where have I been??!!!
Maybe you forgot. I think it was the very late 70s (maybe 1980) when I first saw him do Elmer Fudd's "Fire."
BTW, it was Springsteen who wrote it. He wrote it for Elvis Presley and sent him a demo in '77, not long before Presley died.
The first one to record the song was Robert Gordon -- the same Robert Gordon of Robert Gordon and Link Wray (on "Fresh Fish Special"), who I like a lot (and I was embarrassed to find this unremembered factoid; I even own "Fresh Fish Special." Springsteen played piano for Gordon).
Springsteen performed it live quite a bit, but didn't record it until the 80s.
The link didn't give the whole song, just the first verse. I totally forgot about Womeo and Juwiet!! It's a real knee slapper for sure. FIIIIWWEERRR !!
