How Long to keep giving same food?

OK...so say the dog doesn't take to the strange new items showing up in their bowl. I see you're supposed to leave it for 15-20 min and then put it away until the next meal. Some say to warm the food to room temp with hot water.
My question is, if you're bringing it to room temp then the item (chix or turkey) will be going from cold to room temp (and staying room temp for 15-20 min) and then cold again. Is it safe to keep this up for 2 days, 3 days?? How long do you keep giving the same food without worrying about bad germs?

I don't warm the food up.
I don't want the dog getting used to it. I don't fancy having to warm food up for a dog, every day, for the next 15 years.
Just a thought.
As far as the ick factor goes?
Dogs eat roadkill.
They lick their butts.
Often, they eat feces (their own, another dog's, or kitties... mine eats goose poop.)
As long as the food is raw, uncooked, and it is quickly returned to the fridge and cooled again, I see no serious concern.
I work crazy hours, and we constantly have steaks and roasts that go bad before we get a chance to eat them.
Not rotten, but just a touch "off".
I hack 'em up and give 'em to the dog for extra muscle meat.
Hasn't hurt her yet.
Raw food goes through a dog's gut pretty quick, provided no kibble or other grain-laden treats are in the dog's belly.
My dog can be a pain in the butt when it comes to eating at times.
If leaving the food down, and taking it away isn't doing the trick, try making the portion smaller when you return it.
Most dogs start to realize, "Holy crap, not only do I only have one shot at it, but it's getting SMALLER! I better eat it before it disappears!"
Another observation:
My own dog won't *begin* eating something, unless she knows she can finish it.
She has NEVER left a half-eaten chunk of anything.
If she starts, she finishes.
So, if the item being offered is too big (portion-wise), she won't touch it.
Just a thought.

Also, if the dog just doesn't get it yet, give a little ground muscle meat. The connection between the smell and taste of it and the smell of the RMBs can be more easily made.
You can put nothing but a little muscle meat in the bowl and see what happens. If it's gone, then still wait for the next meal but this time put the MM on top of a chicken back.
This fits with Alyssa's observation, too:
If leaving the food down, and taking it away isn't doing the trick, try making the portion smaller when you return it.
Most dogs start to realize, "Holy crap, not only do I only have one shot at it, but it's getting SMALLER! I better eat it before it disappears!"

are you feeding something else at the same time?
I'd be surprised that you'll need to do the back and forth from fridge to bowl for three days if nothing else if fed than the raw food...
Also like Connie said, you could give raw ground beef in small portions (As a treat for example - my dogs will swallow anything that follows the sound of the clicker).

It's turkey neck and he looks a it like its an alien, then eventually picks it up and places it outside the bowl and stares at the bowl.
We're on day 3 now, he gets fed in the evening so this will be the third time Ive put it down for him. He's not getting anything else and I know he's hungry because every time I go anywhere near his feeding area he jogs over to see what Im doing.
If he does the same tonight, Ill put some ground turkey in with it as suggested.

Hi again, Angie,
This is not really 100% on topic, but a turkey neck for a first RMB probably wouldn't be the way I would go.
Do you have a chicken back? I'd probably go with something like that after the dog gets the idea that ground meat is just RMBs off the hoof, so to speak, and he can teeth-grind his own.

Ok. Ill give that a whirl. I have a turkey back, will that work or should I stick with chix? He loves his rawhides and bones so I figured he'd take right to the turkey neck like it was a chewy but obviously not :-(

Well, this is not universal, but I don't have good success with turkey necks. (I don't give rawhide, either, but that's a little O.T.)
If you have a chicken back, that would be the way I'd go for a first RMB.

Update.
I had a really hard time finding chix backs, which is why I didn't have them in the first place. I ended up getting out a pack of chix quarters, cut some of the meat off in chunks and put that all back in the bowl. He ended up eating the chunks and leaving the rest. I decided to leave it down for a while longer and he kept going in there and looking at it. Eventually I could hear him crunching! I went to bed and when I woke up, he had not eaten the leg part of it...that was laying in his bed next to him.
He still isn't too thrilled about the chix even tho he's figured out he can eat it. I still have to pick it back up once. Ive gone to feeding twice a day, thinking I would give him 1/2 and 1/2 but it's ending up being 1/2 and then it gets picked up and he gets the same 1/2 for the next meal so at this time, he's only getting half of what he should.
I put his K9 superfuel on it and he licks it off and leaves the chix.
If I cut the meat off, he will gobble it up but I havent been doing that for him. I only did that twice.
My friend runs a restaurant and he gets 10lb packs of backs and "nubs" for his stock. He says the nubs are legs, wings, any part of the bird that didn't make grade. Im getting a case of that on Tue so I'll have backs then.
I appreciate all the input. You all are awesome.

This sounds like the issue I was just having with my new dog.
http://leerburg.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/249360/page/0/fpart/1
For some reason, dogs in my house do NOT like chicken backs. They never have. I'm suspect that the brands I can get around here may be filled with too many hormones and/or it's just not fresh enough. I don't bother anymore.
It ended up that my new dog loves pork brisket bone which I happened to have on hand because it's what I feed my other dogs. Connie doesn't recommend that though.
