Hello There,
I have a 16lb, 7 month old puppy, she's almost full grown. Is 7 months to young to start using Frontline flea product on her? I swim her everyday and poor thing, she just itches like crazy and I can see the fleas crawling on her too. I do my best to pick off what I can, but I feel so bad for her, she's itching all the time. Open to your thoughts and suggestions.

Just make sure to use the proper size and you should be fine, it's a decent product although like anything does have potential side effects on occasion. Read the information in the package if you buy the three pack. Also if you have a cat make sure to keep it away from the dog after application for at least a day. Frontline for dogs is deadly for cats. If you do have a cat or other dogs you will want to treat them for fleas at the same time. Fleas don't tend to be too picky on whose blood they're sucking.
Try to keep her out of the water for at least a couple days after application.
The smallest size for Frontline Plus is for up to 22 lbs. If you have a costco membership you can often pick it up there for cheaper than the vet or any of the online discount places. When I was there last week it was $35 for any size.
You can speed up the destruction of the fleas by washing any bedding that your dog sleeps on in hot water. Fleas spend alot of their time in the environment around a dog rather than crawling around on a dog. If it's a bad infestation you might consider flea bombing the house, treating the yard, or calling an exterminator especially since you live in an area where fleas thrive year round.
Hi Melissa,
Thanks for the great advice, and yes we do have other dogs, so I'll make sure to keep them separated for a day. Hmmmm, that will be a toughy to keep her out of the pool as she just luuuvvvvzzzz to swim in our pool. For the sake of ridding her of fleas, i'll do it! I think she'll survive a couple days of no swimming...lol. Thanks again. Your little one's a cutey!
Just as a heads up Marissa, you don’t have to keep her away from the other dogs, just the cats (if any) and the water. What Melissa was saying is that you should treatthe other dogs at the same time since they likely have fleas too, even if you can’t see them.
