Even the American built tractors now have a significant percentage of Chinese made parts in them.
A John Deere tractor's entire electrical system is Chinese in origin.

I think my tractor is sexy It's seriously in my will.
We have an old John deere yard tractor 4400 with a add on wide roto tiller, bucket scoop, post hole digger, and snow blade. I cannot count the ways I love that device. John deere also makes a lighter tractor that may suit your needs a bit more depending on what you want to do.
Now it doesn't run pretty like some of the newer tractors and has been known to backfire but the darn thing is a work horse rain, -15, or shine. It's also fairly easy to use and the parts are fairly easy to come by. Spare parts can be found often times at the local hardware store which is really nice. The downside is that you pay premium for a deere and deere parts and we needed to go through ours a few years ago and replace all the bolts, lock them in, because over the years they'd rattled loose and done some damage.
If I couldn't have this thing I would likely get one of the japanese model brands like Yanmar. They run alot cheaper used and are of pretty good quality. The downside is I've found their parts and accessories harder to come by in my area.
