Intersting fact that i just found out. I was at my IPO training club talking to one of the members. We were talking about laws and how different the laws are here compared to the states. One of the things that came up was dog traing equipment. I didnt know it, and by the looks of just about everyones dogs niether did they lol, but Italy just past a law that makes Pinch collars and e-collars illegal in italy. I guess the law states that if the cops find you using them, they COULD, take your dog. Italy is trying to go to a total positive re-enforcement way of training. Any of us that have a working dog knows that sometimes, you have to put a correction on them or the dog will literally look up at you and laugh in your face. Thought you might find this interesting.
true, but for the rest of us that are in ipo/schh a pinch collar is a great tool AT A CERTAIN POINT. here the cops could take your dog. and an e-collar? come on, as long as you arent a dumb butt about it, they work great as long as you know what you are doing. now when people try to correct a dog it is with complete positive re-enforcement. imagen trying to correct your dog 100% of the time with complete rewards. I CANT BE DONE on a working/ high level sport dog.
IDK. I do know that i really dont want to find out. The laws here are crazy. Plus they have like 3 different types of cops. all are different, not like the states where you have local and state. it is really wierd here. From what i got, as long as im at the club using it, im good. they dont come looking for people like that BUT if im walking my dog and 1 of the 3 drive by, IDK. It aint worth loosing my dog to find out. I just think it is BS.

Prong collars and Ecollars are illegal in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Wouldn't be surprised they are illegal in a few more continental European countries. You don't want to travel in Italy with your dog anyhow (muzzle law and constantly on a leash). And sine I live in dreadful Switzerland you never want to set foot in this awful country and give them more money (for their ongoing bank fraud). The laws in Switzerland are the worst. You need a map with all the laws that can be different in each little village.
@Dennis: Nope we don't import our working dogs. My Mal male is from France , imported as a puppy, because of the lines in Mals I like. One finds his/her ways in training LOL.
i really dont understand a lot of these European laws. The animal rights over here are insane. I really see a lot more people getting bit and dominant dogs really causing problems. If there is suppose to be 100% positive re-enforcement, you go ahead and try to positivly motivate a mal, gsd, boxer, rott, ect when you starts dominating you are growling at you when you try to take his food bowl. You let me knoe how that turns out for you, pls. i am always up for a good laugh.
