One of those Q&A sites said that its tow capacity is 12 pounds.
However, the camping/RV-type sites say to read the owner's manual, near the end, for its tow capacity. I saw several people on those forums mention 1400 pounds max, and 100 max for the tongue.
I haven't hauled a trailer with anything as small as a mini, but if the trailer is one of the small ones say 2 dog type of aluminum construction you should be fine. I saw suzuki's hauling dog trailers! They are 3 cylinders, way less HP and torque than your mini.
Just keep the weight down. I had one custom built that I hauled behind a small truck occasionally. It could have been pulled by a 4 wheeler it was so light. I wouldn't recomend it for a lot of cross country stuff but for local trips to training it was fine. It probably had a tongue weight of 35# and a total weight unloaded at 220# hauled like it wasn't there.
Well, I don't have a trailer....YET. I had played around with the idea of getting one but we have 2 full size trucks and a van so I didn't see the need for it. I really love driving my little car and I'm getting close to 38 MPG most of the time, way better than either truck or the van. Plus it's cute.
So, I would be doing all this ONLY if I could actually pull a trailer avec dog safely.

I drive like 70 miles each way for training, much of it is interstate. who did you have custom make your trailer Kevin?
We have a guy right down the road who makes stuff out of aluminum but I bet he'd charge me an arm and leg.
There's a small car I see most weeks pulling a two dog trailer, I think it's a Subaru. They make rollers that you can bolt onto your hitch to help with clearance in and out of driveways and things.
You may want to look into something like a rear sway bar or something to stabalize it when towing. A light little car like that can feel pretty spooky being rocked back and forth by a trailer in wind or un-even roads.
