I thought a few of you folks on here would find this as amusing as I did. First of all let me say that I do not feed a raw diet but have been reading about it when I get a chance.
I was visiting a PetSmart looking at some new dog foods because I believe my pup has food alergies and I'm looking for a better food that may help. I was looking through the aisles and I was approached by a very young looking trainer that was at this PetSmart for here 2 week training session so she could become a certified dog trainer for PetSmart. We began talking about dog foods and she was showing me some of the all natural type foods and I mentioned feeding a raw diet stating alot of people are doing this now. Well the most humorous thing about the entire conversation was her reply.
Yeah feeding a raw diet maybe good but you have to worry about you dog getting use tasting fresh meat and killing everything that comes in your yard.
Well I kind of snickered and said well I'm sure I won't have to worry about that.
Like I said I don't feed raw, I've only read a little about it on LB, but I can't imagine that being a problem.

Ah yes, the old "taste of blood" scare!
I heard that one recently as well and just shook my head (the same person went on to describe the scientifically proven "locking jaw" of pit bulls...) - the ridiculous untruths floating around out there (and the way some people eat them up and pass them on!!) is enough to make me wanna bang my head against a wall... but then I'd probably start bleeding, and then my raw feed dog would be possessed to attack and eat me...
I had someone in the waiting room of my vet's office say something like once....in reference to the receptionist's Pekinese...
My poor vet nearly died on the spot laughing, he couldn't even be professional about it XD that pekinese was totally going out and viciously tearing apart everyone who walked through those doors, of course it was with happy yips and his tongue....but yeah, raw meat makes dogs vicious

... Disclaimer: if you get nipped you become one of them.
Which is almost certain to happen, BTW, if you're ever even a few minutes late throwing the bloody meat into the cages .... or if your distraction partner fails to keep them away from you when your arm is inside the gate for that nerve-wracking second ....

and there I was dreaming of having a zombie shepherd from that newer Resident Evil movie...I'd never survive the alligator phase of puppyhood (can zombies even have puppies? OMG that would so adorable)
I've laughed so hard that tears are streaming down my little fat cheeks. LOL!
You should see my little Mimi take down a Bison (right after I take it out of the shrink wrap package, thaw it and place it gently in her dish while she sits patiently waiting).
I guess that's the killer instinct in her. And if ya think that's somethin', ya oughta see her with a Kong.
I've been asked the same thing, "doesn't that make your dogs more vicious?" or "I've heard that they become more aggressive, is that true?" or even "I would never feed my dogs raw meat, it would make them attack other animals." I tell them, that no it does not in fact make them "blood thirsty killing machines" or any more vicious or aggressive. And it's a hell of a lot better that feeding any crap kibble that's full of fillers (ol' Roy, Alpo, etc.), then they just look at me like I'm insane. lol
