Enoch is now a year and a half. I feed him in the mornings and the evenings. Two days ago he stopped eating in the morning. His energy level was the same and he still enjoyed getting his treats throughout the day. He also ate his evening meal. Last night he at first didn't eat his evening meal. I realize he had ground beef which he hasn't had before so I took it out and just left the chicken backs to see if he would eat just that. He gobbled it up and seemed to want more. So this morning I fed him just chicken backs and he didn't eat it. It's so puzzling to me because he's acting the same and enjoying his treats during training so I don't know what to make of it. I'm taking him to the vet but I wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions or thoughts.
Maya has gone through this a couple of times, not wanting to eat her morning meal. The only thing I can figure out is that she hasn't had enough exercise yet or maybe hasn't gone to the bathroom. Like Enoch, her energy level was fine and she would take treats.
Shaed, our 70lb GSD, is the only "picky" eater of our crew. Some days she won't eat her morning meal, sometimes she won't eat her night meal. If she doesn't eat it, I don't worry cause she'll be hungry later(basically, if she doesn't eat at night, she eats the next morning, and same for morning to night). She's always been like this. Sometimes it does depend on how much activity she has during the day and what is going on during the day (going somewhere, visitors, etc.). She's always been like this, even with raw food.

How much does he weigh?
How much are you feeding him?
He weighs approx. 85 pounds and we feed him 2.5 pounds a day. Is this too much? He ate this morning so I'll see if he eats tonight and tomorrow morning.
Since this is a new deal, do what you had planned and continue to watch his health and have a wellness check-up with the vet.
Watch his weight. Feeding a little less per meal is always an option if you want/need him to eat twice a day. He may go back to normal routine as quick as he changed.
