I just became aware that rally was different from obedience. Is rally the fun stuff, like going over jumps and poles? I have my dog finishing both sides and was going to switch her to just one. The trainer at class told me not to because at rally you have to finish whatever way the card says. She said they hold up a card and you have to do what it says on the card. I'm still not sure I know what Rally is. Do they do the sit stays, the down stay and the long downs as well as the "fun stuff"?
"As it does with obedience and agility, AKC offers Rally titles at three levels:
Novice, with on-leash exercises that demonstrate the dog's understanding of basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and come and heel position;
Advanced, a set of exercises performed off-leash that includes at least one jump; and
Excellent, a more difficult off-leash course that includes at least one jump and demonstrates more precise skill and coordination between the dog and handler."
So they've been saying. We've been invited to come on Fridays. It must be practice. We're going camping this Friday but I will definatley try it the next time they have it. After my post about not going down (my dog) I have been trying to have the most fun and relax. I found my dog loves to jump. So in between training I'll pick up some leaves and let her jump for them. She jumps higher than my head. I can also just put my hand up and say "jump" and she does it touching my hand with her nose like a seal.
