I'm wondering about flea and tick treatments. Do you guys use any of them, and if so, which one? I've been using Frontline Plus, but I'm concerned about the safety of the product, but then again, I don't want the fleas either. Suggestions?
With our three dogs we rotate using advantage in the winter months when there is usually no ticks and frontline in the summer when we have alot of ticks. Also twice a year we fence of half of the yard at a time and treat for bugs. That works for us here in FLA.
I rotate back and forth between Frontline and advantage as well, but I do it every three months.
In the summer when the fleas are really bad I use advantage topical and will spray Nico down with frontline spray once a week or so, to get any that are immune to one or the other. But she is highly allergic so it is necessary with her.
I have been using Promeris on my gs monthly since she was 8 wks
old. My Vet recommended it because of where I live in a mountain
forest enviromment. Only one tick in 20 months, can't find a
flea and because she is white they are easy to spot. Would watch
for a skin reaction and maybe others here on the forum have pro's
and con's about Promeris.

I'm just concerned about the long-term safety of constant exposure to frontline plus, month after month after month. Wondering about other possibilities... maybe that's a good plan to rotate back and forth from frontline to advantix - at least then they aren't getting constant exposure to the same thing
