Ok so i have a 3 year old weimaraner. I was told the other day that she is agressive. I have only ever seen her be like that 3 times, and i think she wasnt doing it to be agressive but to protect her family.
Ok so here are the things shes done:
When i was showing her, i fainted in the ring ( it was a realy hot day and i must have been dehydrated) Anyway she stod over me and was growling at any one that came near me. My husband was looking after our kids in the tent and was not watching. Some of our friends that were watching ran and got him and my dog alowed him to get me. Once he was looking after me, she was fine for someone else to finish showing her.
Another incident almost the same happend last week. My neighbour and her son came over to play with my son. The were playing fetch with my dog when i went inside to get some coffee's. Anyway my friend came in and said that my son had fallen and hurt himself and that my dog was standing over him and not letting her help him. I went out and put her into a drop stay while i fixed everything up.
She had never shown anyother sign of agression other than these two times and she is very obedient, so far we've managed to get CD title. Anyway my question is this so called "trainer" said she is an agressive dog. Was she being agressive or in her mind trying to protect her family?????
And if she is being too agressive how do i train her out of it because the first time i had fained and the second time i was not in the room.
I wouldn't change anything I was doing with the dog. I'd keep up with the OB. Tell the so called trainer to go back to pets and stop putting her nose where it doesn't belong.
I'd be proud of a dog with the discribed attributes.
Nothing wrong with this behavior. I had a collie(Lassie-type--up until I was 14) that was like this. She took very good care of me on several occasions. Very protective of me.
