I have a really hard time conveying my thoughts into print. I made a post a few days ago. In it I did not make myself clear. I came across as an idiot. And looked like I did not appreciate the people giving advice. Also made some think I was mistreating my dog.
Here is what is going on now.
I am looking at getting into Schutzhund. I found a breeder/trainer close to me. He evaluated Treasure yesterday, and she has very good prey drive and should do really well. He also said she is a hard puppy. And that was good she will forgive any mistakes that I make. With out hurting her drive. I am going to spend some time watching and help him work some of his dogs. He has showed me allot that I was doing wrong. And He showed me how to train her and on correcting her while training. He showed me how to use a prong the right way and when to use it. Also told me what DVD’s to get from this site. So I can do most of the training myself. With his help and the help from this BB and DVD’s.
I hope I did not break any rules in posting this. I just wanted to try and explain myself. So if I need help I can get it here too. I did not wont one of the best resources damage to the point most would not respond.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
Silence is the only successful subsitute for brains.
Chuck,
We are all glad to hear that.
I know when a post gets closed that you don't have a chance to really explain what happened, but we try to stop flame wars, if possible.
And I'll note that Chuck was man enough to immediately PM me back when that old thread was closed and try to explain what was going on. We all learn by our mistakes, and everyone of us here grew from a smaller knowledge base, often by trial and error. Some of us were lucky enough to have talented mentors to train us, but those are few and far between - and I, like Chuck and everyone else, have made my share of mistakes while training dogs that I wish I hadn't.
I hope you recieve better advice from here on out, Chuck - good luck!
Boy I'm getting all misty eyed here. Just kidding. We're all in this to help each other, that's what it's all about.
Good job Chuck you are a responcible dog owner and soon to be trainer, you can add that to your patrol handler skills and possible decoy .
Good luck in your SchH training and I think and hope that tough little (if you can use little referring to a Rott) will take you to the top stair in each trail you enter.
Keep us posted on you and Tresures progress.
You only got one thread closed, I've had numerous closed and some promises to throw me off the board. So you will have to play catch up in the screwing up dept. around here. As long as I get what I want (knowledge), it was well worth it.
